Formula E driver Nick Cassidy and Formula One driver Liam Lawson have one thing in common. Both hail from New Zealand and even spent some time together during the summer break. While Cassidy emerged as the Formula E World Championship runner-up last season, he recently claimed victory at the Mexico City E-Prix, his first win with his new team, Citroen Racing. Lawson was asked about Cassidy during the Racing Bulls livery launch event in Detroit recently, and the F1 driver had nothing but positive things to say about the Formula E star.
Liam Lawson is all praise for Nick Cassidy
Formula E shared a video of Liam Lawson from Detroit on Instagram with the caption: “Game recognises game. F1 driver Liam Lawson was full of praise for Nick Cassidy whilst at @visacashapprb’s livery launch in Detroit.”
Lawson, 23, was asked by talkSPORT about spending time with Nick Cassidy, 31, over the summer back home and whether the Formula E ace, widely regarded as a master of energy management, had offered him any tips. Responding to the question, Lawson said, “I mean, I think he's probably the best at it, honestly. I watched his race. I was still in New Zealand playing golf, and we were watching the live stream of Mexico City. Yeah, he's obviously doing a really, really good job. He’s somebody that over the years I’ve spoken to a lot, and I probably this year will be speaking to a lot more, asking for advice.”
Reacting to the video, one fan wrote, “Love this!!! Respect.”
Another commented, “KIWI LOVE.” A third added, “Yessss Kiwi love.”
Nick Cassidy is leading the Formula E championship
Nick Cassidy parted ways with Jaguar TCS Racing after finishing second in the Formula E World Championship last season. He joined the new Citroen Racing team for Season 12 and has made an immediate impact, securing two podium finishes in two races so far. Cassidy finished third at the Sao Paulo E-Prix before going on to win the Mexico City E-Prix. He currently leads the Formula E Drivers’ Standings with 40 points, holding a four-point advantage over second-placed Andretti driver Jack Dennis.
On the personal front, Cassidy made his relationship with model Nathalia Soliani Instagram official with a New Year post. Sharing a few pictures with her, he wrote in the caption: “I don’t usually post much private life these days, here’s the 2025 side not shown. Don’t judge! Very thankful and appreciative of the life we are given and work for. 2nd in the World Championship and lots of life memories to be cherished. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holidays.”
Cassidy will now head to Miami for the Round 2 race on January 31.
