“I wanted that win really badly”: Pascal Wehrlein on winning his 100th Formula E race in Jeddah
Pascal Wehrlein competed in his 100th Formula E race in a way every racer would dream of. He claimed victory in Part 1 of the Jeddah E-Prix, the win he had been eagerly waiting for. Starting from third position on the grid, the Porsche driver managed the Attack Mode and the Pit Boost in the right manner to claim his first win and second podium of the season. Not only that, he also beat Citroen Racing’s Nick Cassidy to top the Drivers’ Standings by a decent margin.
His fans and friends hailed him in the comments section. “Let’s gooooooo Habibiii,” wrote one. Another commented, “SO HAPPY! What a reward on the 100th race, hope for a back-to-back on the 101st!” One more exclaimed, “That’s how it’s doneeeee.”
Wehrlein explained his race strategy after the win. He said, “It was a super, nicely executed race. I waited a bit with the Pit Boost but also with the Attack Mode, and I think that was the right strategy. We went into the Attack Mode and after the Pit Boost I just tried to extend the lead so that no one was in my slipstream anymore. We managed to do that and in the end I could manage the pace.”
Further sharing his happiness over the win, the No. 94 Formula E driver added, “It was a very enjoyable race and I also had good fights, some pretty tough ones, especially at the start, but we got through it. Being at the top of the championship is not too relevant right now. Obviously, I wanted that win really badly, it’s been a while, and it’s great to bounce back like that.”
Ahead of the race, Wehrlein had told Porsche in a statement: “I'm addicted to winning, that's what drives me. It was a very long journey and a very challenging one. The team has helped me a lot to become the driver which I am today. Where we are today, it feels like we are probably the team to beat. That makes me proud. Obviously 100 sounds already a lot, but I'm ready for the next 100 races.”
Next is the Round 5 race of the 2025/26 season under the lights at the Jeddah doubleheader. It starts at 8:05 p.m. local time (10:35 p.m. IST).
