Dan Ticktum vows never to sell 6.5k pounds car he drove to Monaco: “A 4000km road trip and not one fault”

Dan Ticktum claimed double pole positions in Monaco this year, a special feat that will go down in Formula E history. The Cupra Kiro driver had his mum cheering him on in Monaco, but there was another companion who did not let him down throughout the race weekend - his trusted car, which he bought for just £6.5k. Ticktum has now made a promise to the vehicle, penning a heartfelt note praising its reliability after it completed a 4000km journey from London to Berlin to London, then Monaco and back to London without a single fault.

Dan Ticktum makes a promise to his trusted retro car

Dan Ticktum’s retro car appears to be a Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine from the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Ticktum took to Instagram Stories on Thursday to share a glimpse of the car resting in his garage after the long road trip. Alongside the post, he wrote: “This 6.5k car has been to Berlin and back and now has done an entire lap of France, delivering me to my race in Monaco and back to London. A 4000km road trip and not one fault. I will never sell it.”

In April, Ticktum had also shared a glimpse of the retro car on Instagram. Posting a picture of himself with the vehicle, he wrote: “One C with triple Ds and double GGs.”

His Cupra Kiro team-mate Pepe Martí described it as the “elite car” in the comments. When Ticktum replied, “@pepemartiofficial bro u already know I am dropping you at the London race in this xox,” Marti responded: “They should let you drive the track in it.”
A fan also commented: “This thing is an outrage. Proceed.”

Dan Ticktum’s double pole positions in Monaco

Dan Ticktum secured pole position on both days of the Monaco E-Prix. However, he was unable to convert either into points. On the first day, he forced Jaguar TCS Racing driver Antonio Felix da Costa into the chicane, receiving a costly race penalty. Although he initially finished third in Round 9, he was stripped of the podium, with fourth-place finisher and team-mate Pepe Martí inheriting the result. It marked Marti’s maiden Formula E podium, while Ticktum was demoted to 12th place.

In Round 10, Ticktum finished 14th.

He currently sits 14th in the Formula E Drivers’ Championship standings with 28 points.
