Kamptee's Rabbani Club win All India Football tournament

NAGPUR: Traditional powerhouse of Kamptee football, Rabbani Club added one more feather to their camp when they emerged champions in the Black Diamond All India Football tournament which concluded recently at Chandameta (MP).
In the summit clash, Rabbani rallied back strongly to shock formidable Tamil Nadu Police, Chennai 2-1 to clinch the title.
Rabbani did not get good start in the final as TN Police took an early lead in the seventh minute through Jayant Kumar.They managed to maintain their slender lead till the breather.
After resumption, Rabbani levelled the scores 1-1 in the 60th minute when Zahid Ansari fired a powerful 25-yard kick which gave no chance to TN Police goalkeeper.
Zahid again found the mark in the 80th minute to seal the fate of TN cops.
Thanks to his splendid effort, Zahid was adjudged as the best forward of the tournament. Zahid’s teammate Saquib Ansari was named best midfielder of the tourney.
Earlier in the semifinal, Rabbani defeated Universal Club, Kerala by a similar margin. Saquib Ansari and Mohammad Ali were the goal scorers for Rabbani.
Sultan Salahuddin was the coach, while Mohd Asif was the manager of the champion team.
