Wayne Rooney

Alex Ferguson's retirement was expected to see changes in Manchester United and Wayne Rooney's impending departure may be the biggest one. Though new manager David Moyes reiterates that he is not for sale, Chelsea said that the English striker is their sole transfer target. In May, Rooney had told Moyes that after nine years at Old Trafford, it was time to move on. Rooney's current salary is 250,000 pounds a week. Chelsea apparently offered United 20 million pounds and Juan Mata and David Luiz to lure Rooney. (Getty Images)

Cesc Fabregas

Manchester United manager David Moyes said on Friday he hopes to have some good news about the possibility of Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas joining Manchester United in the 'next day or so'. United had fired a 26 million pounds bid for the former Arsenal man whose two seasons at Barcelona can be at best described as lukewarm. Neymar's arrival has also made his first-team position rather tenuous. However, Barca coach Tito Vilanova has said Fabregas is happy where he is. (AFP Photo)

Gareth Bale

David Moyes's attempt to bring in Thiago Alacantara has failed. He is yet to confirm any big-money signing. So he has turned his focus on Tottenham Hotspur talisman Gareth Bale and has reportedly made a massive 60 million pounds offer. Spurs is ready to double Bale's 150,000 million pounds a week salary but according to media reports, the Welshman is interested in the move. Spurs are desperate not to lose Bale, last year's Footballer of the Year, and have so far resisted United's approach. Real Madrid have also shown interest. (Getty Images)

Luis Suarez

With three years left on his contract, Luis Suarez's Liverpool stint is fraught with controversies and spectacular goals. Liverpool have made it clear they do not intend to sell the player and rejected an offer - understood to be 30 million pounds - from Arsenal. Manager Brendan Rodgers feels that Suarez is worth as much as Cavani who was sold for 55 million pounds. However, Suarez's advisors are convinced that the forward has a clause in his contract that stipulates he can leave only if a club meets his 40 million pounds valuation. (AFP Photo)

Radamel Falcao: Atletico Madrid to Monaco

Monaco succeeded in luring away the Colombian striker to France by offering him a lucrative contract. Falcao, 27, has scored every 113 minutes since arriving in Spain two seasons ago. An excellent goal-scorer, Falcao will make a great addition to the super team that Monaco are building. Transfer Fee: 52 million pounds. (AFP Photo)

Edinson Cavani: Napoli to Paris Saint Germain

PSG just broke all records this transfer season as they acquired the hitman from Naples: Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan has averaged a goal every 114 minutes in his three seasons at Napoli. With Ibrahimovic already in the team, only time will tell if the two can work as a pair. If they can, they will be virtually unstoppable. Transfer Fee: 55 million pounds. (AP Photo)

Neymar: Santos to FC Barcelona

Billed as the next big thing from Brazil, Neymar has been on the world radar for the last three seasons till Barcelona snapped him up after prolonged deliberations. It happened just before the Confed Cup. With the deal sealed, Neymar showed why he is special, almost single-handedly lifting the gloom over Brazil. Now, the scintillating combination of Neymar and Lionel Messi is a spectacle everyone is waiting to witness. The worry is for Barcelona to fit the two in their system. Transfer Fee: 48.6 million pounds. (Reuters Photo)
