Pokemon GO Xerneas raids are back in the cycle. This legendary Fairy-type Pokemon from the Kalos region will be available in 5-star raids. From February 17 to February 24, 2025, trainers worldwide will have the chance to battle and capture this majestic creature. Xerneas first appeared in Pokemon GO during the Luminous Legends X event in May 2021.
In this Pokemon GO Xerneas raid guide, we will help you understand its weaknesses, counters, and strategies to defeat it.

Best counters to use in the Pokemon GO Xerneas raids

As a mono Fairy-type Pokemon, Xerneas is vulnerable to Steel and Poison-type attacks. These types deal 160% additional damage, making them essential for being effective in Pokemon GO Xerneas raids.
For Steel-type counters, consider using Dusk Mane Necrozma with Metal Claw and Sunsteel Strike, Shadow Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash, or Mega Lucario with Bullet Punch and Flash Cannon. Shadow Excadrill and Jirachi are also solid choices.

Poison-type attackers like Mega Gengar with Lick and Sludge Bomb, Mega Beedrill with Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb, and Nihilego with Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb are highly effective. Naganadel is another strong option for trainers looking to maximize damage output.

Xerneas’ stats and moveset as a 5-star raid boss

In 5-star raids, Xerneas boasts impressive stats: 45,899 Combat Power, 250 Attack, 185 Defense, and 15,000 HP. Its Fast Attacks include Tackle and Zen Headbutt, while its Charged Attacks feature Close Combat, Giga Impact, Megahorn, Moonblast, and Thunder.
Trainers will have 300 seconds to complete the Pokemon GO Xerneas raids, with up to 19 other players able to join the raid either in person or remotely.

Xerneas’ catch CP and shiny availability

The CP of Xerneas after the raid depends on weather conditions and IVs. Without weather boost, it ranges from 2,073 to 2,160 CP at level 20. During Cloudy weather, the CP increases to 2,591–2,701 at level 25. A 100% IV Xerneas will have 2,160 CP (non-boosted) or 2,701 CP (weather-boosted).
Shiny Xerneas has been available since October 2022, with a 1-in-20 chance of encountering it after a raid.
