Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Kamalini ruled out of remainder of WPL

Mumbai Indians (MI) wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini has been ruled out of the remainder of the WPL season due to injury, with the defending champions naming Vaishnavi Sharma as her replacement for the rest of the WPL 2026.


Seventeen-year-old Kamalini featured in five matches in the ongoing season before the injury brought her campaign to an early end.



“Mumbai Indians (MI) picked Vaishnavi Sharma as a replacement for G Kamalini for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Vaishnavi Sharma will join MI for Rs 30 Lakh,” the WPL said in a release.

Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi, a member of India’s victorious ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup squad in 2025, has played five T20Is for India and picked up five wickets.

MI have endured a mixed start to their WPL campaign, registering two wins from five matches so far. Despite losing their last two games, the defending champions have held on to second place on the points table due to a superior net run rate.

With three league matches remaining before the playoffs, MI will be keen to put the pieces together when they face bottom-placed Delhi Capitals at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi, on Tuesday.

Notably, Kamalini and Vaishnavi, who were both part of the T20I squad that played Sri Lanka in December last year, have earned maiden ODI call-ups for India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Australia.

India are scheduled to play three T20Is and three ODIs between February 15 and March 1, followed by a one-off Test in Perth from March 6 to 9. The squad for the Test match is yet to be announced.
