(SCA) congratulated the India Under-19 cricket team for winning the ICC World Cup and called it a "moment of glory".

The Prithvi Shaw-led India team defeated Australia by eight wickets and won the World Cup for a record fourth time.

India restricted Australia for 216 and achieved the winning target in 38.5 overs by losing just two wickets.

Manjot Kalra hit a splendid ton, while Harvik Desai, who represents Saurashtra in the domestic cricket, remained unbeaten on 47 in the summit clash at Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.

"Congratulations on winning the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018. It was a remarkable, superlative performance," the SCA said in a media release here.

"The SCA feels very proud of Team India. It's a moment of celebration....a moment of glory", the release added.

The association also praised the Gujarat lad Desai. "Harvik proved to be a super reliable wicketkeeper-batsman."

The SCA also praised the team coach Rahul Dravid.

The former India captain remained a source of inspiration for the team throughout the tournament, it said.
