The event for the official announcement of the schedule and groups for the 2026 T20 World Cup has come to a close.
Team India playing Pakistan in the group stages in undoubtedly the highlight of the early stages, with more exciting clashes on the cards once the tournament progresses.
All to play for as Team India look to defend their title and achieve something never done before in the sport.
Team India will play the final match of opening day on February 7, with the hosts taking on the USA in Mumbai.
The game gets underway at 7:00 PM IST.
The two other matches on the day feature Pakistan vs Netherlands in Colombo and West Indies vs Bangladesh in Kolkata.
India will take on Pakistan in the marquee clash on February 15, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The match will kick off at 7:00 PM IST.
All eyes will be on Suryakumar Yadav and co. as they will look to further add to their 7-1 record over Pakistan in T20I World Cups.
The group stage of the 2026 T20I World Cup runs from February 7 to February 20.
The tournament gets underway with Pakistan taking on the Netherlands at SSC, Colombo.
The group stage ends with Australia taking on Oman in Kandy.
The Super 8 stage goes on from February 21 to March 1, and precedes the two semifinals, on March 4 and 5 respectively.
The final is scheduled to be played on March 8, either in Ahmedabad or the R Premadasa in Colombo.
If Pakistan reaches the final, the final will be played in Colombo (neutral venue).
If they do not qualify, the final will be played in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Colombo has ben listed only taking Pakistan into consideration. If Pakistan do not make it to the semis, Eden Gardens in Kolkata and Wankhede in Mumbai will be the venues.
There will be 3 venues in India and 2 in Sri Lanka for the Super 8 stage.
Pakistan will play all their games in either Kandy or Colombo for the need of their games to be played in a neutral venue.
Group D looks all set for a tense finish, with 2024 finalists South Africa pitted against New Zealand.
Afghanistan, Canada and the UAE complete the group.
Bangladesh and England are the obvious big names in Group C. Other than them, debutants Italy, Nepal and West Indies complete the group.
Reigning ODI World Cup champions Australia are joined by Ireland, Oman, co-hosts Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Group B.

As 2024 T20I World Cup winning captain Rohit Sharma said, Group A, featuring the intense India-Pakistan clash will be the 'toughest' group.

Five venues are in India - Arun Jaitley in New Delhi, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, MA Chidambaram in Chennai, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Wankhede in Mumbai.
From Sri Lanka, the venues are - Pallekele in Kandy, R Premadasa in Colombo and Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
