So a tiring day but India still well on top of this game. They still have a chance to enforce the follow-on on Sunday. The question is will Kohli take it after his bowlers had such a long day in the field? South Africa will take heart from Maharaj and Philander's performance and feel better showing from the top order can save this Test. What is on store for us on Day 4? Join us on Sunday, 13th October at 0930 Local (0400 GMT) to find out. Till then, cheers!

A tiring day for the Indian bowlers. Till the first hour of the second session, the Indian bowlers were on top and enjoying themselves out in the middle. But after that their pain started. They had scalped 5 wickets in the first 44 overs of the day but for the next 2 to arrive they had to bowl almost the same. The duo of Jadeja and Ashwin had a long day in the field as they were made to bowl long spells. Ashwin managed to get rid of the tail at the fag end of the day, finishing with a 4-fer. Ishant Sharma was the only genuine bowler who went wicketless. Jadeja, Shami and Umesh Yadav had 1, 2 and 3 wickets respectively.

But just like every underdog story there was a fight. There was determination. The inspiration came from an unlikely source. Keshav Maharaj who was battling a shoulder injury joined hands with Vernon Philander who grabbed a pair in the first Test. The duo showed how to play in these testing conditions. They fought hard, battled the spinner and added 109. In a game where South Africa were trailing by 439 with just 2 wickets in hand. Their 109-run stand might not seem too much of a difference maker but the duo spent more than 3 hours out in the middle. In the process Maharaj got to his maiden Test fifty. The time spent by the duo made sure that even though India could enforce the follow-on they will have to wait till Day 4.

The day began as many people predicted it to begin. South Africa lost night watchman Anrich Nortje early in the day. Theunis de Bruyn got a start but could not make the most of it. Then started the vistors' fight. First skipper Faf du Plessis and de Kock added a 75-run stand with the skipper getting to his fifty in the process. De Kock though could not continue his fight and Muthusamy too did not last long. Faf du Plessis also threw in his towel as he was dismissed by Ashwin. At 162/8 and just one hour of the second session gone, the question in everyone's mind was what will happen? Will India bat again today or will South Africa bat twice in a day?

Take a bow, Maharaj and Philander! When many expected and thought South Africa would not just bat twice but lose some wickets as well in their second innings, the duo had other ideas.

Ashwin to Rabada, OUT! LBW! Rabada is the last wicket to fall and finally, after some stubborn resistance, South Africa have been dismissed for 275. Ashwin gets his 4th wicket of the innings and India will be mightily pleased to know that this innings has ended today itself. Ashwin floats this one on the middle pole line, it pitches and straightens but not enough to meet Rabada's blade as he plays outside the line. The ball hits him on the pad, India appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Rabada straightaway goes for the review knowing he is the last man at the crease. Replays roll in, Ultra Edge shows no bat involved. Ball Tracker comes into play and shows the ball to be hitting the leg pole. This is the 50th Test wicket for Ravichandran Ashwin against South Africa. That will be the last ball of the day as the umpire takes the bails off. STUMPS, DAY 3!

R Ashwin to K Rabada, Floated outside off, Rabada edges that one. It goes uppishly towards point.
