Yashasvi Jaiswal hospitalised with gastroenteritis

MUMBAI: India’s Test and ODI opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was hospitalised in Pune after suffering from about of acute gastroenteritis. On Tuesday, Jaiswal experienced severe stomach cramps after Mumbai's last match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Rajasthan, in which he scored 15 off 16 balls as Mumbai chased down a stiff target of 217 to score a three-wicket win.

“He was rushed to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri Chinchwad yesterday, after he experienced severe stomach pain. He was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis by the doctors. He underwent a few tests and will stay in the hospital today as well,” a source tracking developments told TOI on Wednesday.



Though Mumbai won their last match, the defending champions crashed out of the tournament. Jaiswal was in fine form in recent weeks. With his sequence of scores being 29, 101, and 15, Jaiswal finished with 145 runs in three matches in SMAT at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6.

Jaiswal has sufficient time to recover ahead of India’s next ODI series, against New Zealand from January 11.
