Vidarbha women face defeat as their ex-captain Mona Meshram slams 92

NAGPUR: Former Vidarbha women’s captain Mona Meshram turned out to be their own nemesis on Monday. Mona, who currently plays for Railways, slammed impressive 92 off 96 balls against her old teammates to guide Railways to a huge 137-run victory in the Senior Women’s One Day League in Guntur.Opting to bat, skipper Mithali Raj promoted Mona to Number 3 position. The right-handed Mona made the most of the opportunity. Initially, she was cautious as Railways were 89-2 in 23 overs. Mithali Raj also got out cheaply and Mona took the responsibility.The middle-order batswoman Mona, completed her 50 in 65 balls. Later, she up the ante to add 42 more runs off 31 to her score before she got out on the penultimate ball of the first innings. Openers Punam Raut (39) and Nuzhat Parween (35) were the other prominent run-getters.Chasing 221 for win, Vidarbha were bundled out for 83 in 38.1 overs. Bharti Fulmali scored 35.
