MUMBAI: Former India offspinner Ramesh Powar has been asked to continue as the interim coach of the women's national cricket team until the ICC World T20 scheduled in November 2018.

Powar was first appointed as the interim coach for the women's team in July when the Committee of Administrators (

CoA

) unceremoniously sacked

Tushar Arothe

from the job without giving the former First Class cricketer a proper hearing.

The CoA took a call on Powar's extension on Monday, but hasn't made the announcement public yet. What remains to be seen is if the BCCI, going forward, will make Powar alone accountable for how Indian women fare at the ICC tournament in less than three months from now.

With no coaching experience, Powar - who recently returned from Australia after doing his Level-III course - has been handed the responsibility because there's not enough time left to appoint a full-time coach.
