AHMEDABAD: Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel's reign as Gujarat's most successful captain-ever began when he captained his side to Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 title twice, first in the 2012-13 season and then in 2014-15, before clinching the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2016. But this year's Ranji trophy will stand the tallest amid it all. A veteran of 168 First Class matches,

Parthiv

was just 17 when he debuted in the team and by the time he is 31, he holds all three major trophies and become the tallest figure in Gujarat cricket.

Matching him in success is Gujarat coach

Vijay Patel

who also becomes state's most successful coach. A level 'C' coach, Vijay was the coach of the team when Gujarat become champions of Plate group back in 2007-08. Patel was the coach of

West Zone

side which won the Duleep Trophy final against South Zone in Hyderabad in February 2010.

He progressed to become Gujarat's chief coach and under his coaching, Gujarat won the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 titles in 2012-13 and 2014-15, Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2016. He added another feather in his cap with this year's Ranji Trophy.
