INDORE: Maharashtra got the better of Jharkhand to post their third win in as many matches and, with 12 points, qualify for the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy from Group 'A'.


They play their last game against Railways on Tuesday. Even if Maharashtra fail to win the game they will top the Group 'A' as they have defeated Bengal, the only other team from the group with a chance of ending with 12 points. Having two wins from three matches, Bengal face Gujarat in their last match on Tuesday. On the other hand, in Group 'B', all three teams are still in the race for the final berth.

The Vidarbha team, as far as the shortest format is concerned, is still a work in progress and were squarely beaten by Mumbai by six wickets a Super League Group 'B' match.

With Mumbai's triumph, fashioned by Jay Bista's individual brilliance and the collective efforts of the bowlers, the Group 'B' has two teams with eight points each.

Karnataka, having won all their three matches, lead the group with 12 points.

Maharashtra moved in to the pole position of the Group 'A' by remaining unbeaten in the Super League stage. On Monday, Ankit Bawne and Vijay Zol starred in a 14-run win.
