This was decided in the MCA’s Apex Council meeting on Saturday.

On October 29, on the same day that the MCA will hand over a special hospitality box to batting legend Sunil Gavaskar and inaugurate the Dilip Vengsarkar North stand, the association will hold a function to celebrate the late Mantri’s centenary year.

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Mumbai’s local cricket season is set to kick off with the Talim Shield on Oct 9.

In another important decision, the MCA will appoint GM cricket operations for managing the outdoor and indoor cricket activities of the association.

Former ICC, BCCI and MCA president Sharad Pawar will be the chief guest in the function, with Indian batting great Gundappa Viswanath being the guest of honour.

It has also been decided to reconstitute all the MCA standing committees. The contracts of all the coaches and support staff of all the age group teams were also finalized in the Apex meeting.
