HYDERABAD: The Supreme Court's order on Friday has given some more members the chance to fight in the upcoming elections in the HCA to be held on September 27.
The Supreme Court in its order dated 20-9-2019 in C.A.No 4235/2014 has defined disqualification for the purpose of contesting elections as "that disqualification shall be confined only to those who had held the post of 'Office Bearers' of the
Cricket
Associations".
Consequently, HCA Electoral Officer VS Sampath extended by one day the date for filing nominations and thereby “giving a further opportunity for intending members, who have not filed nominations so far, to file their nomination taking note of the definition of disqualification given by the Supreme Court.”
The last date for filing nominations will be September 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Consequently, the scrutiny of nominations shall be taken up at 5 p.m. on September 21.
Arjun hit by conflict of interest?
Tejaswi Pratima Dodda, an NGO activist and a former journalist, has written to the BCCI, HCA and Electoral Officer about the conflict of interest against N
Arjun Yadav. She alleges that Arjun is coach of the Hyderabad Ranji Trophy team, a playing member of an Institutional Club - Andhra Bank - which is playing professional cricket in the Hyderabad League A Division and also secretary of India Cements Club.
Tejaswi said: “Both the above stated clubs are voting members of the HCA. This is a clear case of conflict of interest in more than one way.”

Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar are being questioned and asked to appear to determine the conflict of interest in their positions and players like N Arjun Yadav who have played first class cricket,lingered in the system for several years in various capacities, sometimes simultaneously and currently violating constitutional terms of the BCCI to which HCA is member association are overlooked is a matter of shame and grave concern.
“ I strongly urge you all to examine this conflict of interest and take essential steps as required by the constitution in the best interest of the game,” Tejaswi, who lives in the USA, wrote in plea.
