... DAY 1, SESSION 3 ...
A centurion falls - Bangladesh reached 201 for 3 in 53 overs at Tea, with Mominul Haque on 64 and Shanto getting his maiden century against Pakistan and his ninth test hundred. The third-wicket partnership has been the backbone of the day, completely absorbing Pakistan's threat and turning the momentum firmly in Bangladesh's favour. But just after the century of Shanto, Pakistan found a way to break the partnership, and it was through Mohammad Abbas. However, Musfiqur Rahim replaced his skipper and is yet to open his account. It will be interesting to see how the Pakistan bowlers will react in the last session on Day 1, but Bangladesh have a strong grasp after the end of the afternoon session. We will be back with the post-Tea break at 8.40 am GMT.
The partnership that set the game - The partnership continued to flourish as both batters moved into the second half of their respective innings. Haque brought up his fifty in composed fashion. He looked particularly elegant on the back foot as he produced some delightful ramp shots over the slip cordon. Shanto, meanwhile, grew increasingly fluent at the other end, rotating the strikes and punishing anything overpitched or loose short deliveries with authority.
Steady start for the afternoon session - Bangladesh resumed after the Lunch break at 101 for 2 after 26 overs, with Najmul Hossain Shanto unbeaten on 39 and Mominul Haque steady on 31. Pakistan came out with renewed intent in the second session by bowling back-to-back maiden overs, but the batters did well to control their nerves. Shanto set the tone early by punishing the short deliveries from the pacers.
