It has been a frustrating evening for both Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) players as rain has played spoilsport in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Earlier, Punjab Kings won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat, with their bowling lineup getting a much-needed boost in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal’s return. MI handed a debut to England’s left-arm pacer Reece Topley.

The umpires are currently conducting a pitch inspection to assess if any moisture has seeped in.
Ricky Ponting also stepped out for his own look at the surface. He pointed out a slightly damp spot, which he discussed with the fourth umpire.
After the assessment, it’s been confirmed that the match will begin at 20:25 IST.

The start of the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians has been delayed due to rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer had earlier won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to make early inroads on a pitch that has favoured teams batting first this season.
However, just minutes before the scheduled start, dark clouds rolled in and rain began to fall, forcing the ground staff to bring on the covers. For now, fans remain hopeful that the skies will clear and play can begin soon.
The entire 30 yards has been covered. The drizzle has eased up a bit, and now the groundmen are in two minds, whether to cover it or not.
There’s tension in the air.
There’s a final spot on the line.
And now… there are dark clouds looming over the Narendra Modi Stadium.
