Rachin stood firm - Despite the quick double-blow, Rachin Ravindra stood firm and found an able partner in Tom Blundell. The duo absorbed the pressure well and ensured there were no further setbacks before the break. Thanks to their resilience, New Zealand managed to cross the 100-run mark, ending the opening session at 104/4. Ireland clearly took the honors in this session, and the game hangs beautifully poised. The recovery from the Kiwis - With the visitors in deep trouble, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra joined hands to steady the ship. The duo showed immense composure and stitched together a crucial 64-run partnership for the third wicket. Just when New Zealand looked to be recovering, Liam McCarthy stepped up for Ireland. He broke the dangerous stand by taking the wicket of Williamson, and Adair again followed it up quickly by dismissing Daryl Mitchell, leaving the Kiwis reeling at 84/4.

A session that belonged to Ireland - Ireland made a dream start to this 4-day Test match. After opting to bowl first, their bowlers came out firing on all cylinders. Spearheading the attack, Mark Adair struck gold in the very first over, dismissing Kiwi skipper Tom Latham for a duck. Adair didn't stop there. He soon removed Devon Conway for just 4 runs, leaving the New Zealand opening pair shattered early on.
