'Thank you for giving me new life': Sarfaraz Khan shares emotional note after CSK pick
NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings snapped up Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan at his base price of Rs 75 lakh during the IPL 2024 mini-auction on Tuesday, soon after his explosive 22-ball 73 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a moment that drew an emotional reaction from the 27-year-old.

After going unsold in the initial rounds, Sarfaraz was eventually picked by CSK as their sixth buy of the auction. His appreciation for the franchise was clear from his message on social media.
"Thank you so much, CSK, for giving me new life," he wrote on Instagram.
The former Delhi Capitals batter’s selection was underlined by his outstanding run in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he has scored 256 runs in six innings at an impressive average of 64.00 and a strike rate of 182.85.
CSK were active throughout the auction, making big investments by spending Rs 14.20 crore each on uncapped players Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer, both of which turned out to be record-breaking buys. The franchise also strengthened their squad by bringing in Matt Henry and Rahul Chahar.
Ahead of the auction, Chennai had pulled off a major trade, securing Sanju Samson for Rs 18 crore. That deal also saw long-time campaigners Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran move to Rajasthan Royals.
The five-time champions had earlier released Matheesha Pathirana, a decision that freed up Rs 13 crore in their auction purse.
Sarfaraz last featured in the IPL in 2023 for Delhi Capitals, and his strong domestic form suggests CSK’s move to rope him in could pay dividends in the forthcoming season.
