India’s star batter Shubman Gill has received a special nod of appreciation from none other than Virat Kohli after his record-breaking exploits in the ongoing Test against England at Edgbaston. Kohli took to Instagram to share a picture of Gill with a heartfelt caption:
“Well played star boy. Rewriting history. Onwards and upwards from here. You deserve all of this.”

Gill has been unstoppable in this Test match, backing up his monumental 269 in the first innings with a fluent 161 in the second. This incredible effort has seen him break Sunil Gavaskar’s long-standing 54-year-old record for the highest match aggregate by an Indian in Tests. His twin centuries have also put him in elite company alongside Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar as only the third Asian batter to score 300-plus runs in a single Test in SENA countries.
