Not the start England would have wanted.

00:26 (IST) Jul 08

We are back for the chase. Rohit Sharma is seen having a quick talk in the huddle. Turns out to be a long one. Now, they spread out on the field. Jos Buttler and Jason Roy are the openers for England.  Bhuvneshwar Kumar to start with the ball.

...The Chase...

00:23 (IST) Jul 08

Right then! A belter to bat on and England have a long lineup as well. On the other side, India have experience in the bowling rank. It will be exciting to see who comes out on top here. Stay tuned as the chase is coming up.

India set 199 target for England

England too will not be that disappointed with their bowling. Although they could have done much better by bowling tight lines and keeping it tight early on. Moeen Ali struck with two wickets inside the Powerplay but England leaked runs after that in the middle phase. Chris Jordan was the most economical of the seven bowlers used as he finished with two wickets. Jos Buttler will be happy with the performance and he will bet on the batters to chase this.

00:18 (IST) Jul 08

India will be really happy with the score. Apart from Ishan Kishan, everyone chipped in with runs and got off to a good start and with an impressive strike rate as well but failed to convert into a big one. It was then Hardik Pandya who hunted runs and scored his maiden fifty in the process. Just when a good finish was required, he fell at the wrong time. Dinesh Karthik tried his best to finish things on a high but he too fell and India failed to cross the 200-run mark. Still, not that bad score but it is a belter to bat on and the bowlers need to step up.

00:17 (IST) Jul 08

So, 20 runs off the last three over! India will feel they missed out on a good finish as they ran out of batters. But in the end, both the teams will be happy with the score.

Hardik, Hooda and Suryakumar lift India to 198
That's it! Tymal Mills completes the final over of the innings. 11 runs including a couple of boundaries and 2 wickets of Dinesh Kardhik and Harshal Patel (run out) came in it. Riding on a maiden half-century from Hardik Pandya (51) and quickfire knocks from Deepak Hooda (33) and Suryakumar Yadav (39), India have got to a terrific 198 for 8 against England in this first T20I in Southampton. The pitch has been superb for batting and it will be a challenge for India bowlers, who will be up against ultra-aggressive England batters. A cracking run chase is on the cards!
