England 123/2 after 56 overs
A lot of chirping going around now. India fielders reminding Joe Root and Haseeb Hameed of the Lord's disaster. Just over 10 minutes now to go for the Lunch break! Can Hameed and Root survive the session?

Setback for England!
17:07 (IST) Sep 06
Dawid Malan run out!
Dawid Malan goes for the non-existent single and substitute fielder Mayank Agarwal produces a superb fielding effort. Haseeb Hameed pushes a Ravindra Jadeja delivery to cover-point and goes for the quick single. There was never a run there. Mayank charges in and throws the ball right at the top of the stumps and Rishabh Pant does the rest. Malan fails to make his ground. Huge setback for England and a much-needed second wicket for India. Malan walks back for 5.

Jadeja to Malan | LBW review from India! | Malan survives!
Dawid Malan gets very lucky! Saved by the umpire's call. No shot offered on Ravindra Jadeja delivery from over-the-wicket and the ball hits Malan's back leg. India go for the review. Ball tracking confirms that the delivery is just clipping the stumps. The on-field umpire's call stays! India were very close to getting their second wicket of the session. Lucky escape for Malan. ENG 119/1 after 51.1 overs.

England 119/1 after 51 overs

Stat attack!
England's opening pair added 100 runs for the first wicket. This is the first 100-run partnership by England against India in the fourth innings of a Test since 1964.

Jadeja to Hameed | Dropped!
A rash shot from Haseeb Hameed as he tried to break shackles. Hits a Ravindra Jadeja delivery straight to Mohammed Siraj at mid-on. The ball burst through his hands and goes down onto the ground. Looks like Siraj has hurt himself. The ball goes right through his hands and hits him in the abdomen. He looks fine now but a simple catch has been dropped. How costly this miss chance will be for India? A sigh of relief from Hameed.

Jadeja, Shardul combination for India after the drinks break!
A tidy first over from Shardul Thakur after the break. Just two singles off it. Shardul is getting just enough movement off the pitch to trouble the batsman when he is bowling from around the wicket to the left-hander. Ravindra Jadeja to continue from the other end.

Drinks Break! | England 109/1 after 46 overs
Haseeb Hameed 54* | Dawid Malan 2* | Shardul Thakur 1/11 | India need 9 wickets | England need another 259 runs to win
16:23 (IST) Sep 06
A lot riding on Hameed's shoulders!
16:16 (IST) Sep 06
50 for Haseeb Hameed!
A solid start from the England opener on Day 5. Haseeb Hameed resumed on 43 today morning and has now got to his 4th Test fifty. This half-century will give Hameed a lot of confidence. But the job is far from done! England have just lost Rory Burns and will now need a big knock from Hameed. He cracks his second fifty of the series. ENG 103/1 after 41.2 overs, need another 265 runs to win
16:09 (IST) Sep 06
Shardul to Burns | OUT!
First breakthrough for India after 40.3 overs. Shardul Thakur strikes in his first over. Rory Burns departs straight after his 11th Test fifty. Shardul produces a jaffa and Burns edges it straight to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. Looked like a slight lapse in concentration from Burns after his fifty. He was leaving that sort of deliveries before this. But credit has to go to Shardul for producing a peach coming straight into the attack. Shardul draws first blood. ENG 100/1 after 40.4 overs, need another 268 runs to win
16:09 (IST) Sep 06
50 for Rory Burns!
16:06 (IST) Sep 06
England 94/0 after 40 overs | Bowling change for India!
A two-run over from Jasprit Bumrah comes to an end. This has been a solid start from the England openers. Both have dealt beautifully with Bumrah and Umesh Yadav. India make their first bowling change.

Umesh to Burns | FOUR!
Once again Umesh Yadav drifts down the leg side and Rory Burns once again dispatches him for a boundary. This time Burns just guides the ball to the fine-leg fence. England openers are off to a calm start on Day 5 but have also not hesitated to put the bad balls away. ENG 92/0 after 39 overs, need another 276 runs to win
15:42 (IST) Sep 06
Umesh to Burns | FOUR!
A boundary from Rory Burns to end the Umesh Yadav over. A good ball outside off from Umesh but Burns comfortably dabs it to the third-man fence. There are only two fielders in the slip cordon and no third-man and Burns hits it wide from the second slip fielder and collects four easy runs. ENG 84/0 after 35 overs, need another 284 runs to win.
15:34 (IST) Sep 06
Bumrah partners up with Umesh!
A tidy start from Umesh Yadav. Just a single off his first over. Haseeb Hameed and England are off the mark on Day 5. Jasprit Bumrah to share the ball with Umesh from the other end. Two slips in place for Bumrah as well. ENG 78/0 after 33 overs.

Day 5 Session 1 gets underway at the Oval!
Haseeb Hameed (43*) and Rory Burns (31*) resume England's chase of 368 on a tantalising Day 5. Umesh Yadav to start the proceedings for India. Two slips in place for him. Hameed on strike. Here we go! ENG 77/0 after 32 overs, need another 291 runs to win.
