N Lyon to Vihari, Well outside off to start off with, left alone by Vihari.
The two batsmen, the fielders and the umpires make their way out to the middle. Hanuma Vihari to take strike on the first ball of the last day. It will be bowled by Nathan Lyon.
Michael Vaughan with the pitch report on Day 5 says that the cracks have widened more than ever and points to a huge patch outside the right-hander's off stump. Feels that Nathan Lyon should be the most effective and bowling from one end continuously. Ends by saying it has been a brilliant pitch for Test match cricket.
Welcome to Day 5 of this closely contested Test match between Australia and India. The hosts are within touching distance of victory going into the final day as they require just 5 wickets to level the series. With the pitch opening up and helping the fast bowlers and spinners, Tim Paine and co. will be looking to wrap it up as soon as possible. Coming to the visitors, they have lost half their side and India will be hoping the likes of Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant show some fight. Should be a cracking day of Test cricket. Do join us in some time for all the action.
... Day 5, Session 1 ...
So, looking forward to the final day, then. 175 runs or 5 wickets? The latter certainly looks easier. But you never know in cricket. Funny things happen and the match isn't over till the last ball is bowled. Australia are the firm favorites to win and bring the series back to level terms, but this new India is unlikely to go down without a fight. Join us for Day 5 from Perth beginning at 1020 local (0220 GMT). Till then, goodbye and cheers!
The day began with a very slow first session when the overnight batsmen continued till Lunch while not scoring too fast. What followed was madness as the hosts lost 4 wickets for 6 runs. But the last pair managed to stave off the pace and took the target for India to 287. The Indian chase began poorly, losing both Rahul and Pujara before Tea. Kohli and Vijay fought for a bit but they too fell to the guile of Lyon. And at the fag end of the day, Rahane was also lost. The current pair managed to survive the remaining overs but they have a huge task on their hands tomorrow if they want to keep the scoreline at 0-1 or make it 0-2.
What a day of cricket! The hosts have come alive and how! They first batted almost more than half the day to get to 243 and then have scalped 5 wickets of the Indians. The tourists need 175 runs to win and the Aussies need 5 wickets. And considering the frailty of the Indian tail, the hosts have a massive upper hand in the game. Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant are the last recognized batting pair at the crease. The pitch is responding beautifully to Nathan Lyon and there is also variable bounce for the pacers. India will be wondering where they went wrong, some indecision, some poor shots, and some times you just had to give it to wonderful bowling by the hosts.
Starc to Pant, There is the double bluff! The short leg had been called for the last ball of the day and what followed was a yorker. Rishabh Pant is smart though and digs it out. THAT WILL BE STUMPS ON DAY 4 WITH INDIA ON 112/5.
