NEW DELHI: Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant on Monday equalled the world record for most catches in a Test match. Pant achieved the feat during the opening Test of the four-match Test series against Australia at the

The 21-year-old equalled the previous record held by England’s Jack Russell and South Africa’s AB de Villiers of claiming 11 catches in a Test match.

Pant caught Mitchell Starc off Mohammed Shami’s bowling to achieve the feat.

Pant took six catches in the first innings and then grabbed five more in the second to share the record with De Villiers and Russell.

Before Pant, Saha held the record for most catches in a Test match by an Indian wicket-keeper, with 10.

Saha took 10 catches against South Africa during the Cape Town Test in January 2018.

Most catches by a wicket-keeper in a Test match:

Jack Russell – 11 catches vs South Africa in 1995

AB de Villiers – 11 catches vs Pakistan in 2013

Rishabh Pant – 11 catches vs Australia in 2018

Bob Taylor – 10 catches vs India in 1980

Adam Gilchrist – 10 catches vs New Zealand in 2000

Wriddhiman Saha – 10 catches vs South Africa in 2018
