NEW DELHI: Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has been heavily criticized on social media following the team's recent series loss to New Zealand.
The former India opener, however, seems unfazed by the criticism he has received online and has emphasized that the prestige nature of his position requires him to be completely honest.
Ahead of the team's departure to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Gambhir stated during a press conference in Mumbai on Monday, "What difference does social media make in my life, and for anyone's life? When I took up this job, I always knew that it was going to be a highly difficult job and a highly prestigious job as well. I don't think as if I'm feeling the heat because my job is to be absolutely honest."
Gambhir also emphasized the players' tenacity and commitment in the Indian dressing room.

So it's an absolute honour to be coaching them and coaching India," he remarked at the press conference on Monday.
Gambhir is still focused on leading the squad through these difficulties and pursuing success on the global scene in spite of the recent defeats.
India need to win 4 Tests in Australia to directly qualify for the World Test Championships final that is scheduled to be held at Lord's in June 2025.
