I take the blame, should’ve batted faster: Shai hope

KOLKATA: “Yes,” was West Indies captain Shai Hope’s blunt reply when asked if he should have scored faster at the top of the innings.

Hope’s 33-ball 32 as an opener wasn’t something the West Indies would have planned for.



“I’ll take the blame if that’s what you want me to say. I should have batted a lot faster. I don’t think I was batting badly. It’s just that I was hitting the fielders and then trying to play the situation. I wanted to bat a little bit deeper and face most of the spin threat in the middle, but it didn’t happen. So yes, I’ll take the blame,” Hope said.
