IND vs PAK Updates: Rain bedevilled the Asia Cup's most anticipated clash again on Sunday, halting India's mouth-watering Super Four clash with arch-rivals Pakistan, which will now be completed on Monday. Put into bat, India had reached 147-2 in 24.1 overs when heavy rain suspended play. The umpires waited for nearly four hours before deciding the rest of the match would be played on Monday. The Sept. 2 group match between the heavyweights in Pallekele had been abandoned because of rain after the Indian innings.

Intermittent rain played spoilsport in the high-stakes Asia Cup clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. As the heavens opened up, India found themselves at 147 for two in 24.1 overs, bringing an abrupt halt to the much-anticipated encounter. To accommodate the weather disruption, organisers have activated a reserve day, with play set to resume at 3 pm local time on Monday. This impromptu shift in the schedule has created a tight turnaround for India, as they are now set to face Sri Lanka in their next Super Four encounter on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after their contest against Pakistan.

Oh No! Covers are coming back. It has started drizzling in Colombo. It looks like a passing shower, but has the capacity to ruin all the hard work done by the ground staff in the last three hours or so.

UPDATE: Umpires are back again for their third inspection of the wet patches on the ground.

We have got two main issues, near square leg and point, they are quite wet and soft. The foundation of the ground there is too soft and dangerous for the players. We are trying to dry it with fans and will have a look in another 10-12 minutes. We think we are trying our best as ground staff, possibly looking at the 9pm start but we have to see how it goes. Ideally we want to get as many overs as we can for both sides, but we don't know if it is 9pm or quarter to 9pm. Whatever the decision we make, if it is a 34-over game for a 9pm start and it starts to rain after play resumes then we start tomorrow with the same number of overs. But if we don't get any further decision on the number of overs today then we have a full 50-over game tomorrow.

UPDATE: Due to heavy rain, it is taking a lot of time to peel off the covers. There are wet patches on the ground too, which need special attention. Umpires will inspect the ground after all the covers are off. At the moment, the covers on the pitch are still intact.

Watch: Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman helps ground staff cover pitch amid rain

In a heartwarming gesture, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman was seen providing a helping hand to the groundsmen at the R Premadasa Stadium after rain stopped play in Colombo. Zaman was seen pulling the covers on the field alongside the ground staff after a heavy downpour halted the marquee India-Pakistan game. While the other India and Pakistan players along with the umpires were moving off the field, Zaman, before leaving, did his part to protect the ground.

Virat Kohli (8*) and KL Rahul (17*) were in the middle for India after openers Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) struck dazzling half-centuries. India's Asia Cup opener against Pakistan was called off due to rain.
