... DAY 5, SESSION 2 ...
UPDATE - 6.20 pm IST (12.50 pm GMT) - So the news is that we will have a maximum of 67 overs that can be bowled with Stumps scheduled for 11.30 pm IST (6 pm GMT) but as we have seen so far, we do not expect all of them to be bowled today. Tea will be taken at 9 pm IST (3.30 pm GMT) for 20 minutes and this afternoon session will most likely decide which way the game is headed. Do join us shorty for the first ball to be bowled on Day 5.
UPDATE - 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT) - There seems to be a few damp patches around the ground due to the rain pounding away through the night. The ground staff and the Super Soppers are working on these areas to get them dried out. Both sets of players are on the field though doing their warm-up drills and that is the best sign we can get that action is not too far away. The sun has made an appearance too and is peeping out through the clouds. Stay tuned to find out when the game will get underway. And just as we say that we have an official announcement that the game will begin at 6.45 pm IST (1.15 pm GMT) so get everything wrapped up in 45 minutes and join us for the action.
UPDATE - 5.31 pm IST (12.01 pm GMT) - So early Lunch has been taken and there will be an inspection at 5.50 pm IST (12.20 pm GMT) as we look forward to some positive updates. It has been informed that Lunch was officially taken at 5 pm IST (11.30 am GMT) so we will be into the second session when the inspection takes place. We shall bring more updates to you soon.
UPDATE - 5.05 pm IST (11.35 am GMT) - Well finally the covers are coming off and it seems like the ground staff have done a good job here to get things moving! It is still overcast and with the conditions this cloudy, the English bowlers will be itching to get the ball in their hands and have a go at the Australian batters. The umpires will have a look and we should be getting an update on the start time shorty. Stay tuned...
UPDATE - 4.55 pm IST (11.25 am GMT) - Some good news folks! The umpires are out on the field having a look at the conditions and there seems to be no rain falling currently as they do not have their umbrellas open. All the covers are still on and there is water collected on it so the ground staff will have their work cut out trying to soak it all up. The Super Soppers are hard at work and with the forecast predicting that there will be no rain in the afternoon, we could be getting some action really soon. We have our fingers crossed!
UPDATE - 4.45 pm IST (11.15 am GMT) - The conditions have improved slightly as the intensity of the rain has reduced a touch. The ground staff is busy sweeping the water off the covers. Hopefully, their hard work pays off and we get to see some action soon. Although, an early LUNCH break seems to be inevitable now. We will bring your further updates shortly.
