CHENNAI: Krishnan Sasikiran of India slipped to the sixth position in the seven-player field at the ACP Golden Classic chess tournament in Amsterdam on Saturday after he lost and drew the two adjourned games from Rounds five and six. While he lost to Gata Kamsky even before he resumed as he realised that he had a definite mate before him, Sasi took only two more moves on resumption in his game against Emil Sutovsky of Israel before they split the point.
Sasikiran now has 1.5 points from six games with four defeats and has only Baadur Jobava of Georgia below him in standings. In the other adjourned games, Liem Le Quang of Vietnam beat Baadur Jobava to climb above Sasikiran in standings while Kamsky drew with Anna Muzychuk of Slovenia, who has a healthy score of three points and a share of the third place with Sutovsky. Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine led the table with four points and Gata Kamsky followed in second position with 3.5 points.
