CHANDIGARH: The 18th All India AK Mishra Senior Men Championship will kick off at Skating Rink, Sector 10, on Wednesday. The five-day event (March 16 to 20) is being organized by Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of Indian Boxing Federation (IBF).
This lone All-India championship has been approved by Government of India, department of sports as a part of long term development planning.
Over 200 top, national and international boxers, will take part in 10 weight categories of senior division.
Following 20 teams have confirmed their entries Army Sports Institute, Pune (defending champions) Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Army MEG, Bangalore, Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, All India Police, West Bengal,, Orissa, Chandigarh (A), Chandigarh (B). The IBF has deputed 30 referees and judges headed by Anil Bohidhar, joint secretary, IBF. The Championships/scoring system will be fully computerized.
Running trophies will be awarded to the winners and runner-up teams, besides gold, silver and two bronze medallists in each weight category will be awarded with individual prizes. The new boxing ring has been fixed up in the skating rink, Sector 10.
