NEW DELHI: India's badminton queen PV Sindhu lifted her maiden

title after registering a straight-game victory over Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in the final on Sunday. Sindhu defeated Okuhara 21-19, 21-17 in the summit clash.

Just after Sindhu's title victory, Twitter flooded with wishes, congratulating the Rio Olympics silver medallist on her big win.

"An amazing way to end the season for @Pvsindhu1 beating Okuhara in the World Tour final in straight sets. #BWFWorldTourFinals," former India swashbuckling batsman Virender Sehwag wrote on his Twitter handle.
















Playing her third successive season-ending finale, Sindhu, who had lost in the summit clash to another Japanese, Akane Yamaguchi, to settle for a silver in the last edition, prevailed in a match that lasted an hour and two minutes.

Sindhu, an Olympic and World Championship silver medallist, was composed and held her nerves at the crucial moments to stay a step ahead of the Japanese through the match.
