LUCKNOW:
Pune 7Aces
took an unbeatable 4-0 lead against
Mumbai Rockets
in the ‘Maha’ battle of the
Premier Badminton League
on Saturday.
Playing their opening rubber of the league, the Pune side won the first three matches, including their ‘trump’, to lay low the Mumbai side. After losing the men’s doubles and the women’s singles, Mumbai were relying on Parupalli Kashyap to stay in the match. He had to win against Loh Kean Yew in the first men’s singles.
The Indian fought hard in the second game after surrendering the first easily at seven. He clawed back to 14-14 after being down 12-14, but that was the best he could achieve during the 34-minute show. And when he failed to retrieve a punishing smash from the Singapore shuttler, it was all over for the Mumbai side.
