Nasa curiosity rover uncovers potential evidence of ancient life on Mars with discovery of Chevaya Falls rock
A stunning finding found by NASA's Curiosity Rover on May 30, 2024, may provide evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. Unintentionally, the rover drove over a fissure and discovered yellow surfer crystals, which had never been seen previously on Planet Red. While exploring the Gediz Vallis Channel, the rover split apart a boulder and discovered yellow sulphur.
The rover's 22nd rock core sample was the rock that was gathered on July 21. A new life "that shouldn't exist" on the Red Plant has been discovered. This rock may hold many secrets regarding the early history of Mars because it includes components like iron and sulphur, essential for the potential of life.
The mission scientists decided to take a closer look after the team noticed white stones in the distance. What initially seemed to be a standard Martian rock surprised the researchers with its "gorgeous texture and colour inside." Upon analysis, they discovered that it was all sulphur.
The rock that Curiosity Rover found is shaped like an arrowhead and is 3.2 feet by 2 feet. It has reddish bands that indicate the presence of haematite and big white calcium sulphate veins scattered throughout, along with the smallest off-white splotches that are rimmed in black stuff. There are elements in these black holes that are connected to Earthly microbiological activity.
It was discovered at the northernmost point of Neretva Vallis, an old river valley. The group suggests that the rich chemical signatures and structures seen in the rock might have originated when there was flowing water in the region. The group postulated that organic chemicals in mud may have first generated Cheyava Falls, which subsequently solidified into granite. Furthermore, the occurrence of crystals of the magma-formed mineral olivine raises concerns.
