Shukra Pradosh Vrat 2026: Significance
According to the Hindu scriptures, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati experience extreme joy and generosity on this auspicious day. Pradosh translates to "the first part of the evening." Anyone can observe Pradosh Vrat, regardless of age or gender.
As per Skanda Purana, two types of pradosh fasts are observed on the day of Pradosh. One is the midday fast, which can be broken at night, and the other is the strict Pradosh vrat, which is kept for a full day and can be broken the next day.
Some people also worship Lord Shiva in his Natraj form on this Pradosh day.
Those who fast with total devotion and dedication are said to receive happiness, success, prosperity, and the satisfaction of all desires from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is believed that unmarried female devotees who worship Goddess Parvati and give her shringaar would be granted their ideal husbands.
