Rama Ekadashi 2023: Ekadashi holds an immense religious significance. Rama Ekadashi is considered as one of the important Ekadashi's. Ekadashi, which occurs during Kartik Month has its own importance as this month is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu. Rama Ekadashi Vrat is going to be observed during Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. This year, Rama Ekadashi fast is being observed today i.e., on November 9, 2023.

Rama Ekadashi 2023: Significance
Rama Ekadashi has its own religious significance among Hindus as it falls during the Kartik Month and Kartik Month is itself an auspicious month to worship Lord Vishnu. Rama Ekadashi is also known as Rambha Ekadashi or Kartik Krishna Ekadashi. As per Tamil calendar, Rama Ekadashi falls during Puratassi month. In the states of Karnataka, Gujrat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, it occurs during the month of Ashwayuj or Ashwina Month.
Devotees observe fast and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu with great devotion and dedication. It is believed that people who observe this Ekadashi, gets relieved from all types of sins and sufferings. Even those are suffering from a sin of a Brahma Hatya or killing a Brahmin, get rid of this sin and attain salvation. Rama Ekadashi Vrta is equal to the thousand Ashwamedha Yagyas. That's why performing this fast is considered truly meritorious and rewarding.
Rama Ekadashi 2023: Story
Once there was a King named as Muchukunda, who had a daughter named Chandrabhaga. She was married to the son of King Chandrasen, named Shobana. King Muchukunda was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and instructed all the people of his kingdom to observe Rama Ekadashi fast. Chandrabhaga used to keep a Rama Ekadashi fast since her childhood.
Once her husband Prince Shobana was there in the Kingdom of King Muchukunda on Rama Ekadashi but Shobana could not observe fast on Rama Ekadashi due to his health. Chandrabhaga told him to go to somewhere else as he was not following the ritual but Shobana said that he will keep Rama Ekadashi fast anyhow.
He died during midnight due to thirst and hunger. Prince Shobana was given a kingdom on Mandrachala Mountain because he died while observing fast on Rama Ekadashi. Once a Brahmin from the Kingdom of Muchukunda was on a spiritual journey, and he saw Shobana and his kingdom. The prince narrated everything to the Brahmin and asked him to tell this to his wife, Chandrabhaga that his kingdom would vanish because it is temporary as he had not observed Rama Ekadashi fast willingly, he wanted to make this kingdom permanent so he sought help from his wife.
The Brahmin returned back and told everything to Prince’s wife. Because of the benefits and merits attained by Chandrabhaga due to her observance of several Rama Ekadashi fasts, Chandrabhaga with her divine blessings converted the temporary kingdom into permanent and they both reunuited with each other and started living a divine and blissful life.
Rama Ekadashi 2023: Puja Rituals
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. Clean the house and especially puja room.
3. Take an idol of Lord Vishnu and give a holy bath with panchamrit.
4. Place it on a wooden plank, Light a diya and offer Garland, Flowers, Sweets, Panchamrit and Tulsi Patra.
5. Spend whole day chanting Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaye.
6. In the evening, again worship Lord Vishnu by lighting diya and recite Vishnu Sahasranaam and Shri Hari Stotram.
7. Break your with fruits and milk products.
8. Fast will be fully broken on Dwadashi Tithi during Parana Time.
