The next day of Dhanteras is called Kali chaudas also known as 'Narak Chaturdashi' because Lord Krishna killed Rakshasa Narakasura on this day. This day is 14th day of Krishna Paksh of lunar month.
All the negative and energies are to be burnt down this day as it is considered most conducive to get rid of evil energies. The culture of making fried food and keeping it on char-rasta still prevails in the society to suggest removal of disputes, quarrels, negative energies and disaffection from the house. Though one must avoid stepping on or crossing pots covered with red clothes or black dolls placed on cross roads. Abhyanga Snan using sesame seeds is also suggested to be on this day.
Worshipping Goddess Kali on Kalichaudas is believed to ease and weaken the negative influence of badly placed Rahu in one's kundali. Lord Hanuman is worshipped in the evening of Kali Chaudas. Laddus and sesame seeds must be offered as prasad. Collyrium (kajal) extracted from the Diya lighted for hanuman is suggested to be applied in the eyes to protect oneself from evil energy and negative impact of black magic.
Praying Yamdev is advisable on this day to protect the family members from untimely death. It is also advised to avoid debts today.
