WNBA starChelsea Gray is one of the main talents in the new Unrivaled Women's Basketball League. Unrivaled will have a roster of 36 exceptional players. It’s an innovative 3x3 league, co-founded by WNBA legends Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. This exciting platform allows the league’s best players to exhibit their incredible skills over the offseason.The inaugural season of Unrivaled will begin on January 17, 2025, in Miami, Florida. The games are scheduled around the United States in 2026. However, before the season begins, let’s explore the professional career of the 32-year-old WNBA star Chelsea Gray.

Chelsea Gray’s college career before joining WNBA

During Gray's tenure with the Duke Blue Devils, Joanne P. McCallie coached the women's basketball team. After dislocating her knee during her junior year at Duke (February 2013), Gray was forced to sit out the rest of the year. In January 2014, she hurt the same knee again and missed the rest of her senior year. This abruptly terminated her college career. Even so, she was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2014.

A brief glimpse at Chelsea Gray’s WNBA career

Gray was chosen by the Connecticut Sun in the 2014 WNBA draft. However, she missed the 2014 season while recovering from a right knee injury she suffered in January of her senior year while playing for Duke.
She returned just in time for the 2015 season and averaged 6.9 points per game. She was then traded to the Los Angeles Sparks before the 2016 season. Gray, along with Candace Parker, Kristi Toliver, and Nneka Ogwumike, served as the Sparks' backup point guard.After playing for the Los Angeles Sparks for four years, Gray signed a multi-year deal with the Las Vegas Aces. Her participation at the Unrivaled was announced in July 2024.

Did Chelsea Gray win gold medal at the Olympics?

She participated in the Olympics two times: 2020 and 2024. The 2020 tournament was postponed due to COVID-19 and was finally held in the Summer of 2012. Gray was selected in Team USA's 12-person roster for the 2020 Summer Olympics in June 2021. Gray and Team USA won the tournament's gold medal by defeating Japan 90-75 in the final. Chelsea Gray’s team in the Unrivaled

The inaugural season has listed six teams and Gray will represent Rose Basketball Club along with Brittney Spikes, Kahleah Cooper, Lexie Hull, Angel Reese, and Azurá Stevens. Rose BC will play two games during the first week of round-robin competition. They will face Vinyl on Friday, January 17, 2025. They would meet the Lunar Owls the following day, on Saturday, January 18.Games will be played on a full court with two ends that will last four, seven-minute quarters, as opposed to one, ten-minute session in FIBA 3x3 basketball championships.
