Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi 2026: Date, Moonrise Time, Rituals and Significance
Sankashti Chaturthi is the most significant day that holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindu devotees. They offer prayers to Lord Ganesha and observe a fast from dawn to dusk. Devotees visit the temple on this auspicious day to seek Lord Ganesha's blessings. Each Sankshati Chaturthi has its own peetha, rituals, and name. Chaturthi that falls during Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalguna known as Dwijapriya Sankasthi Chaturthi. On February 5, 2026, Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi observed and devotees being observed fast on this sacred day to appease Lord Ganpati.

Since this day is devoted to Lord Ganesha, Sankasthi Chaturthi holds a special religious significance for Hindus. People observe fast and pray to Lord Ganesha on this auspicious day. It is believed that Lord Ganesha eliminates all difficulties and troubles and that's why he is known as the remover of all obstacles. He is the one, who takes away all of life's hardships and grants his followers success, joy, wealth, happiness and all the materialistic pleasures. Lord fulfill all the desired wishes of the devotees who maintain fast and worship him with full devotion and purity. The day is considered extremely powerful and sacred and it is also believed that the people who don't have children must observe this fast for the wish fulfillment. He removes all the obstacles that you are facing in your career, relationship and job.
1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.
2. Before setting up an altar, clean your home and the puja room.
3. Set up an idol of Lord Ganesha, fill a kalash with water, and light a diya with desi ghee.
4. Apply haldi tilak on the forehead of Lord, decorate the idol with garland, and offer him panjiri, bananas, sweets (Boondi Laddoo) and durva grass which is very important in Sankashti fast.
5. To invoke the idol, recite Lord Ganesha mantras.
6. Recite the Katha of Dwijapriya Sankasthi Chaturthi.
7. Perform aarti and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
