Mahavir Jayanti holds a great religious significance among Jains. Lord Mahavir was born as Vardhaman, which means the one who grows in prosperous. He was born to king Sidhhartha and queen Trishala in Kundagram (Bhar, India in 599 BC). At an early age, he shown compassion, knowledge, and a distaste in worldly pleasures despite coming from a regal family. He left his royal family just to achieve Kevala Jnana after 12 years of intense penance and meditation, the supreme knowledge and he later he became a spiritual leader.
