Basant Panchami 2026: Significance
Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami is one of the most significant festivals of Hindus. This day is purely dedicated to honor Goddess Saraswati. Devotees offer their sincere prayers to Saraswati Mata and many devotees observe fast from dawn to dusk to appease Goddess Saraswati. The day marks the arrival of spring season. The day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. This day also represents the start of new season, rebirth, new beginnings, a change in weather and the development in nature.
This day marks the end of winter season and from this day colorful season will begin. Goddess Saraswati is known as the Goddess of knowledge, education, wisdom, music, arts and creativity. She is depicted as holding a veena in her hand and she is mostly dressed in yellow and white color saree.
Basant Panchami 2026: Puja Rituals
Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before starting the puja rituals. After cleansing, they place an idol of Goddess Saraswati on a wooden plank and light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idol. People offer yellow sweets to Goddess Saraswati and keep their books, instruments in front of the Goddess so that she bless them with the arts, knowledge and creativity. They recite various mantras dedicated to the Goddess and seek her blessings.
