Rail Budget 2013: Residents hail Ferozepur-Patti rail link proposal
FEROZEPUR: The proposed rail link between Ferozepur and Patti, a town in the border district of Tarn Taran, has been welcomed by the residents. The link can turn out to be one of the most strategically and commercially important network which would connect the three states of Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat, which share international border with Pakistan. The link will also shorten the Mumbai-Amritsar rail distance by around 240 kilometers and provide an impetus to business activities especially in the Majha and Malwa regions of Punjab.Welcoming the proposal, Sunil Jakhar, CLP leader and Congress MLA from Abohar, said that from the point of view of national security, the link would step up logistics of the armed forces in the north-western front of India.Subash Kakkar, a local, said the proposed link would open new avenues for tourism as people from Gujarat and Rajasthan could now directly connect with Ferozepur and Amritsar.Budget 2013 > Rail Budget 2013 > Economic Survey 2013
