Andhra Pradesh student dies in road accident in US
VIJAYAWADA: A young student from Tennali town of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh lost her life in a road mishap in the US. The student was identified as Jetti Harika (23).
On Sunday morning, the family of Harika woke up to a devastating phone call from the US. The voice at the other end, informed Harika’s family that Harika was no more.
As per Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), one person was killed, and four others suffered injuries after a multi-vehicle crash in Logan Country. The accident took place near Highway 74 and West Triplett Road. The troopers say three vehicles collided after one of the drivers departed the roadway due to the weather conditions.
The family members of Harika said that Harika went to the US in August 2023 to pursue her master’s degree in food and nutrition. Harika’s father J Srinivas Rao is an employee with the Endowments Department and her mother Nagamani is a house wife. Sources said Harika served as veterinary doctor in Guntur prior to her US trip.
The incident marks the fourth fatality involving Andhra natives in the US in this year. The family of Harika appalled to the minister Nara Lokesh and few others to take steps to bring home Harika’s mortal remains.
In between January and April in 2024, three students from Andhra Pradesh were killed in separate road crashes in the US.

Indians generally don't think deeply, as a result they underestimate the dangers of speeding, driving distracted, driving in inclement weather. That's why we see a lot of these accidents. Slow down, if snow is forecast, avoid making unnecessary trips by getting food from the store before snow, for example. Avoid distracting chit chats in the car while traveling in a group.Read allPost comment
