NEW DELHI: Blaming the Delhi District Cricket Association (
DDCA)of being negligent in ensuring public safety during the ongoing
IPL matches, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has moved Delhi High Court.
The SDMC has cited the incident of a fire late Saturday night at the Ferozeshah Kotla cricket ground premises and requested that the grant of provisional certificate to DDCA should be revoked.
In an application moved through standing counsel Gaurang Kanth, the SDMC has accused the DDCA authorities of being lax towards safety issues and requested the court to recall its May 1 order where it granted the provisional certificate to DDCA on the condition that it gets all other fire and safety related clearances.
"If the order is not recalled and SDMC (is) not allowed to revoke the Provisional Occupancy Certificate, the safety of the public will… be compromised," the application filed in court argues.
