'There is no dearth of talent in Kanpur and Lucknow'
You happen to be one of the most controversial music directors in the industry. Why are you always in the news for all the wrong reasons?
See, I'm a person who likes to live life on his own terms and conditions. I'm basically a truthful guy and if I don't like something, I just go ahead and say that I don't like it.
1x1 polls
For instance, if someone can't sing well, I'll not be the one to say to him that you can, and give him the wrong impressions.

Sooner or later, when he realises the truth, I'll be the one to blame, right? So it's best to speak your mind.
As a music director and someone who is also on the panel of judges for a popular singing talent hunt, do you feel any mental blocks when it comes to performers from smaller cities like Lucknow or Kanpur?
Not at all. Small cities have big talent. I don't think there is any dearth of talent in Lucknow and Kanpur. In fact during the course of the tours,

I've come across some really good talent here and in other smaller cities as well. They have tremendous potential.

What about the apparent rapport that you share with co-workers Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam?
We're really attached to one another. When in Mumbai all of us are too busy to meet each other, the show that we're doing together gives us the opportunity to meet one another, and spend some quality time together.
And it's fun working with them too.
What about your plans for the future?
Presently there are five films that I'm working on. I'd like to work on a private album too, in fact I'm looking forward to it.
