Her goal? Winning the Miss Earth 2004 pageant

It''s hardly been a day since Jyoti Brahmin got back from a fashion show in Milan and the Ponds Femina Miss India Earth is already packing for her trip to Manila, Philippines, where she will participate in the Miss Earth 2004 contest. "There''s just not enough time to prepare. I''ve been very busy. Life after winning the Miss India Earth title has been hectic. Every day has been a new experience for me," she says.

However, don''t let that talk fool you. Jyoti''s certainly not leaving for the pageant unprepared. She''s been working out regularly at Club Olympus and The Fitness Centre at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi and getting weight management advice from Dr Shikha Sharma from New Delhi. Ever since she won the crown, Jyoti''s been following strict diets, as well as working on improving her diction and stage presence with the help of Sabira Merchant. She''s also psyching herself to open up to people. "I''ve always been an introvert. I''m now trying to make a conscious effort to talk to everybody and raise my confident levels," she says.

On the big day of the pageant, Jyoti will be wearing some stunning evening gowns, swimming costumes and western casual wear designed by Satya Paul, western formal wear designed by Mandira Wirk, designer bags by Kalyani Chawla and shoes by Finesse in New Delhi. Her national costume and Indian wear is designed by Ritu Kumar while her make up and hair training by Samantha Kochhar. She''ll be flying to Manila by Singapore Airlines tonight.

So does the thought of contesting the international beauty pageant make her nervous? "Actually, I think it''s more excitement than nerves. I had a blast during the Miss India and am looking forward to a similar experience in Manila. This time, there''ll be girls from all around the world and I''ll get a chance to get to know everyone," she signs off happily.
