IndiGo flight cancellation status December 18: List of cancelled flights, affected airports and travel advisory
As of Thursday, December 18, several IndiGo flights have been cancelled at major airports across the country due to dense fog and reduced visibility. The airline has been facing winter operational challenges in December 2025. IndiGo shared a travel advisory late night on its X handle which mentioned “Low visibility and fog over #Chandigarh has impacted flight schedules. We're keeping a close watch on the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly.”
The airline has shared a fresh travel update on X, "Low visibility and fog over #Ranchi, #Patna, and #Varanasi may impact flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly."
Fog continues to affect visibility around #Gorakhpur and parts of the eastern region, slowing down flight movements at present. Operations are being managed carefully as conditions are assessed in real time, with safety remaining our top priority.
The update mentions the flight operations in Gorakhpur, Ranchi, Patna and Varanasi also remain affected due to the bad weather conditions. List of confirmed cancelled flights on December 18 (listed on the official flight cancellations page)

The airline also requested flyers to stay updated on their flight status via official website and app and that they are hoping for clearer skies for a smoother operation. However, late night, a new travel advisory was issued from the airline, which read:
Due to dense fog in #Chandigarh, visibility has reduced drastically, impacting flight operations. As a precaution, some flights have been cancelled through the day to prioritise safety and help minimise extended waiting at the airport.
We understand how inconvenient this can be, especially when travel plans are important. Please be assured that our teams across airports are working continuously to manage operations as smoothly as possible, and keep you informed as the situation evolves. With slower road traffic expected, we recommend allowing extra travel time. We also encourage you to check your latest flight status on our website or app before heading to the airport. In case of a cancellation, you may conveniently rebook or claim a refund online via https://goindigo.in/plan-b.html.
After announcing cancellation of over 170 flights on Monday, nearly 60 cancellations the next day and more than 50 yesterday, IndiGo cancelled several additional flights today as well, mostly scheduled to depart from Chandigarh.
IndiGo’s official platforms (such as goindigo.in and connected status pages) offer multiple resources to help flyers:
Live Flight Status Tracker: Travellers can enter their PNR or flight number on the IndiGo flight status page to get real-time updates on departures, arrivals, delays, or cancellations.
IndiGo also requested passengers to ensure that they have extra travel time during the winter months, duw to weather conditions. Especially, when morning fog frequently affects airport visibility across northern and central India. As winter unfolds, the airline continues to operate over 2,100 flights on a daily basis.
December, being a festive month and holiday travel (Christmas and the New Year), remains the most busy month of the year. But this is also the time when fog and haze take over the skies making flight operations difficult, especially in the northern regions of India.
While December is experiencing select IndiGo flight cancellations because of low visibility and foggy conditions, the airline has systems in place to aid affected travellers, underscoring safety as a primary concern.

Why is the problem with Indigo only, whereas other airlines are functioning normally. Govt needs to have strict policies on Airline operations and they should compensate for every delay beyond four hour or cancelation.Read allPost comment
