6 tiger reserves perfect for a November getaway

November offers one of the best windows for visiting tiger reserves: clear skies, moderate temperatures, and wildlife back in active mode. Here are six top reserves where a November trip gives you a strong combination of scenery, safari opportunity and seasonal advantage.

2/7

Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (Rajasthan)

Ranthambore opens for the tourist season from early October, and by November the forest has dried enough to make tiger sightings a lot easier. Safari zones 1–10 are open, and the weather is cool and comfortable. According to safari-info websites, the period from November to March is quoted as a “best time to visit” window. Expect warm mornings and fairly clear evenings; best chance of spotting a tiger is on the early morning jeep safari. Booking is essential as November sees higher demand. Pro tip: Aim for Zones 3 or 4 (widely recommended) and take the early morning run around sunrise for the best light.

3/7

Kanha Tiger Reserve (Madhya Pradesh)

Kanha’s central-India forests and rich grasslands make November a pleasant time: the monsoon is over, the landscape is fresh, and wildlife is out and about. It’s also one of India’s most celebrated reserves for tigers and barasingha alike. While tiger sightings may improve later in summer, November gives good conditions with moderate heat and good visibility. Pro tip: Stay for 2-3 mornings so you have multiple chances, and pick accommodation near the buffer zone for easy access.

4/7

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (Madhya Pradesh)

Known for high tiger density, Bandhavgarh is a favourite for safari-seekers. November’s dry edges and cooler early morning light make it a strong pick. While spotting a tiger is never guaranteed, Bandhavgarh gives you one of the better chances. Pro tip: Book the “Tala” zone or “Magdi” zone if possible, and secure an early morning safari slot for optimal chance.

5/7

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (Maharashtra)

In Maharashtra’s central belt, Tadoba opens for the season in October and November sees the forest transition into its dry phase. With some watering holes still active and vegetation thinning, tigers are easier to spot. With fewer crowds than some northern reserves, it offers a slightly more relaxed safari experience. Pro tip: Choose the Moharli zone (one of the stronger tiger-zones) and stay in a lodge close to the reserve gate to minimise travel time.

6/7

Pench Tiger Reserve (Madhya Pradesh/Maharashtra)

Adjacent to the “Jungle Book” terrain, Pench offers mixed forest and open terrain, which in November is easier to traverse. The cooler temperatures and clearer skies make the safari comfortable and scenic. November is listed as one of the good months for visiting Pench. Pro tip: Add a night stay or two so you can do both morning and afternoon safaris—wildlife activity is good in both shifts.

7/7

Jim Corbett National Park / Tiger Reserve (Uttarakhand)

In northern India, Jim Corbett is a classic safari destination. November ushers in winter, making the mornings crisp and the forests clearer for spotting wildlife. Many recommend October–February for visits here. Pro tip: Stay in one of the Dharam Range or Bijrani zone lodges and aim for early morning safaris – the chances of sighting are better when tigers move from dense cover.
