Silver Beach is located on the southeast coast of India. It is one of the longest beaches in Asia and the second-longest on the Coromandel Coast. This beach also holds historical significance as Fort St. David is located here, which was constructed by the British Empire. The waves on the beach are mild, so one can swim here too and enjoy the tranquility. Summer festivals are also celebrated at Silver Beach every year during April or May. This beach is known for its long shoreline, peaceful atmosphere, and golden sands.

Poompuhar Beach is one of the finest beaches of Tamil Nadu and is known for its history and natural beauty. This beach is located in the Poompuhar town along the Bay of Bengal in the Mayiladuthurai district, and the beach is named after the town it is located in. This town holds historical significance as it was once the capital of the historic Chola empire and was called Kaveripoom Pattinam or Puhar. One of the most important days that is celebrated on this beach is “Chitra Pournami,” around the April-May season. People gather on the beach to take a dip and celebrate the day in great joy. The Silapathikaram Art Gallery is also located near the beach, making it the perfect beach for history and art lovers.

This beach is also known as Tranquebar Beach and is nestled in the heart of the Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. It is known for its colonial-era buildings, giving it historical importance. The historic Danish Fort is also located near the beach, so you can visit that for a perfect view of the ocean. The roots of Tranquebar can be traced back to the 17th century, when it was a port town attracting traders from all over the world. After this, it was transformed into a Danish colony, making it the only Danish settlement in India. It is loved a lot by beach lovers because of its golden sands and gentle waves and is the perfect location for aesthetic sunset photographs.

This beach is located in Besant Nagar and is considered one of the cleanest beaches in South India. This beach is also known as Besant Nagar Beach. The beach is named after Edward Francis Elliot, a chief magistrate and superintendent of police from the British days in the region. This is a landmark spot for the people who visit Chennai. Covelong Beach is located near a village called Covelong and is also near Chennai. Earlier, this beach was known as Kovalam Beach, but the name was changed as the British were unable to pronounce it. This beach is considered an ideal spot for surfing as the water and the breeze are quite calm here. This beach is surrounded by the Gulf of Mannar on one side and the Bay of Bengal on the other and is located on the southern tip of Tamil Nadu. This beach is also considered a ghost-town beach. One can view the ‘Arichal Munai’ point from this beach, where the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean meet. This beach also holds mythological significance, as it is believed that Lord Rama, from the epic Ramayana, pointed to the end of his bow and asked his army to build a bridge across the ocean known as ‘Ram Sethu’ to reach King Ravana’s Lanka. What adds even more beauty to the beach is that one can spot migratory birds here, such as gulls and flamingos.
